The ethical thing would be: He should report the truth. Misrepresenting research is wrong and cannot/should not be done without repercussion to the person. Someone is eventually going to find out and realize the deception. Honesty is the best policy
Ethical question #2 - Asking the dad to be the last person in the focus group for Home Depot?
I could not do this in my ethical mind. Even though he fits the age requirements, it is misrepresentation as well and knowing that his dad is going to give a good opinion doesn't make it right or responsible. Actually they can TELL the father exactly how to word the answers, and that would not be appropriate given the circumstances
